Are you torn on whether or not you should attend your high school junior prom? I am listing out 5 really good reasons why you should or shouldn’t attend your high school junior prom.
Believe it or not, high school junior proms are still a thing! Depending on your school they will have both a high school junior prom and a senior prom.
Of course, if you’re able or want to, you could go to both. However, some kids are still undecided if they want to go to their high school junior prom.
I am breaking it down for you. Let’s really dive into the pros and cons of attending.
My goal is for you to have the clarity you need to attend your high school junior prom.
This post is about reasons why you should (or shouldn’t) go to your high school junior prom.
5 Reasons You Should Go To A High School Junior Prom
1. It’s So Much Fun
You have the chance to be with your friends and dance the night away! So much fun!
Gather your close friends, arrange a time to meet, and head to your high school junior prom together. It is not mandatory to have a date so if you don’t have one that is perfectly fine.
Let loose and hit that dance floor. You will have the best time.
2. You’ll Get A Preview Of Senior Prom
You can get a sneak peek at what senior prom will be like by attending your high school’s junior prom. This is the perfect sneak peek!
If you attended the junior prom, sign up for the prom committee your senior year so you can vote on how to improve the senior prom over the junior prom.
Going to your senior prom allows you to determine whether you even want to go to prom again during your senior year.
3. Make Memories That Last A Lifetime
You will always cherish the memories you create at your high school junior prom. Those photos last a lifetime.
You are only in high school for four years so making memories with your best of friends is so awesome!
4. Two Chances To Have A Special Night
You now have two fantastic possibilities to have a memorable prom night because you attended the junior prom. If your junior prom is a flop, you can now figure out what went well and what didn’t for your senior prom.
I doubt your junior prom will be a flop so going will let you spend two memorable prom nights in high school instead of the one.
5. Great Excuse To Dress Up
Who doesn’t enjoy a good excuse to dress up? I love a good excuse to have my hair and makeup done along with wearing the cutest outfit.
Take a ton of photos so you can reflect back on how amazing you looked on that particular day!
5 Reasons You Shouldn’t Go To A High School Junior Prom
1. You Just Don’t Want To Go
To be honest, this is a very good excuse not to go. You just don’t feel like it.
It is not required of you to attend prom. If you feel like going to prom is not your “vibe” then so be it.
In high school, the only reason I missed any of my homecoming dances was because I didn’t want to go, and that was good enough for me.
2. It Can Get Expensive
Prom night expenses can add up. Your ticket, hair, dress, suit, shoes, cosmetics, and possibly transportation costs are all yours to pay for. So many things to get for one night!
If money is tight, I would advise waiting for this memorable prom experience until your senior year to avoid any potential stress related to paying for your junior prom at your high school.
3. You Don’t Enjoy Large Crowds
This event might not be for you if you dislike big crowds. There will undoubtedly be a large number of other juniors present, so you should probably avoid going if you don’t want to be among them.
Of course, you can still try it out but this is a good reason why you shouldn’t go.
4. You Don’t Enjoy Dancing
It goes without saying that people will be dancing all night. I would suggest these are good reasons to just stay away from the event if you dislike dancing and big crowds.
Listen, parties is not everyone’s cup of tea so if you rather pass on this event then don’t feel bad about your decision. It is totally understandable.
5. You Rather Do Something Else
Maybe you want to stay home and binge-watch all of the seasons of Stranger Things, or maybe you have other arrangements with friends or a concert to attend. Whatever it may be you rather do anything else except go to your high school junior prom.
